ChemoCap™
Prevents Hair Loss In Chemotherapy Patients.
Alopecia (hair loss) was assessed according to
World Health Organization (WHO) criteria: Success was defined as WHO
grade ≤ 2
alopecia and no need to wear a wig. Failure was defined as the fact that the
patient wore a wig whatever the grade of alopecia.

It has been demonstrated by numerous clinical tests that
hypothermia of the epicranium reduces the occurrence of alopecia, as a result
of chemotherapy.

WHY?
Cancer treatments often induce hair loss which is a major
distressing side-effect. In addition to the constraints of the disease and the
treatment, patients will have a negative body image and this may have a major
impact on their quality of life.
ChemoCap is
the cold cap that can highly reduce the alopecia and contribute to an
improvement of the patient's well-being and be a positive factor in treatment.
HOW IT WORKS
The hair root is strongly implanted and vascularised in the
dermis. The use of the ChemoCap
(-25°C) induces a local vasoconstriction causing the blood influx around the
follicle to decrease which protects it from the alopecia-inducing drugs. The
hair root is thus preserved from an unwanted blood irrigation.
The ChemoCap
is made of glycerol-gel spread in a single block inside a pocket. Its
refrigerating efficacy is obtained by keeping it in the freezer for a minimum
of 12 hours, between -25°C and -30°C.
ChemoCap must be
worn 25 min before treatment, during the infusion and for up to one hour after.
